Client
Wiley / Coca Cola
Our client required an upgrade to the factory floor to accommodate new infrastructure, including gantries, pumps, and platforms.
The existing floor was not suitable from a structural and useability perspective.
- The upgraded floor needed to include suitable falls to the new drainage points.
- A trade waste pit was installed
- Isolated footings were installed for the platforms.
What were the challenges?
A factory floor modification in food processing plant can be challenging for several reasons.
- The work was conducted in a busy operating environment requiring utmost adherence to OHS, and cleanliness.
- Very tight time frames were allocated to minimise loss of production.
- The new floor needed to be stronger than the previous floor and able to meet the new infrastructure requirements
How did Terazzo solve these challenges?
Terazzo successfully reconstructed a factory floor in a busy food-processing environment requiring utmost adherence to OHS, and cleanliness.
- Meticulous project planning ensured concrete construction was managed efficiently.
- Every concrete pour was managed on the weekend to minimise disruption to operations
- Rigorous QA strength testing was undertaken throughout the process.
- To reduce fumes for major pours a ventilation extraction pipe was installed on the concrete truck exhaust.
- For the smaller pours to minimise fumes we used electric concrete barrows.
