Port of Brisbane Cement Silos
Project Description:
Terazzo was engaged to complete the new cement silos at the Port of Brisbane.
This consisted of constructing concrete foundations that were eventually sloped towards a large void where the cement would feed into trucks to be loaded underneath.
What were the challenges?
The platform we were working on was a suspended slab approximately 16m above ground level.
How did Terazzo solve these challenges?
As can be seen in the photos, we had to initially install concrete surrounds to the existing steel silos, then slope the slab toward the void, whilst including cylindrical rebate in the slab.
This enabled high pressure air pipes to be installed to assist in allowing gravity to flow cement vertically through the void in the middle.
Project result
The end result was the successful construction of a series of new cement silos that function perfectly, delivered on time and on-budget.
